OAKLEY

                            Oakley  -  Kalabagh Vermillion

Robert and Margaret Murdoch live just outside Edinburgh with their 2 boys and their dogs. Robert shoots, whilst Margaret does competition obedience. So when they decided to add another dog to the family they wanted something that would be suitable to do both.

One night at training classes Margaret met a very large black and white dog that looked something like a cross between a spaniel and a setter. Thinking that it was a cross she spoke to the owner (Pam Kennedy) and found that it was in actual fact a Large Munsterlander! After the usual 'A WHAT' type of conversation she decided to research the breed further. This is the breed they soon decided they had to have. Unfortunately there weren't any available in Scotland at the time.

Some time later, whilst out shooting, Robert turned to a friend, Tony Scott, and casually asked if he knew of anyone who bred them. Well, of course Tony did! A few phone calls and a visit later and a puppy was booked from the Kalabagh kennels. Oakley was heading to Edinburgh.

When he was a year old his owners were pursuaded to enter him in a dog show, really just for fun. He didn't do so well but his owners decided to give it another go. At his 2nd show, and his first Championship show, Oakley was placed 4th in the Junior class where he was only beaten by 3 bitches. He then went on to win the Post Graduate Dog class, thus qualifying him for Crufts!

His first love is out in the field, but as all munster owners know, he is willing to give anything a try. A truly versatile dog.
